My techniques
SAFE and SOUND PROTOCOL (SSP) : my sound-based technique to reduce stress and enhance concentration
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol?
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) was developed by Stephen Porges (psychiatrist and neuroscientist, author of the Polyvagal Theory): it is a non-invasive, sound-based therapy that restores better alignment between your autonomic nervous system (which governs vital functions) and environmental stimuli.
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) uses filtered and coded music to help you reduce your stress and auditory sensitivity, while improving your social engagement and resilience.
The SSP encourages your nervous system toward a new balance, paving the way for a greater and more stable sense of safety over time. The protocol also favorably influences cognitive abilities such as attention, memory, and concentration.
Who is the ssp for?
The SSP is intended for people who:
- Suffer from hyperacusis—a common hearing disorder causing sounds to feel aggravating or even painful;
- Have difficulty tolerating social communication, including speech;
- Experience anxiety, or episodes of panic or anger;
- Are affected by over-emotionality, hyperactivity, or hypersensitivity;
- Suffer from chronic pain.
-
How does it work?
The protocol unfolds over several sessions. It’s a series of powerful neuronal exercises that promote the ventral-vagal state—a state in which we’re capable of connecting with ourselves and with others in a serene and deep way.
- First, we meet—in person or via video—to assess whether this approach is appropriate for you.
- Together during this initial meeting, we estimate the number of sessions you’ll need.
- Depending on that first meeting, I may propose one or two hours of listening to help familiarize you with the protocol.
- Then we continue with five additional hours of SSP listening, which can be spread across approximately 10 sessions.
For what benefits?
By helping to regulate the nervous system in a coherent way and shifting it from a state of chronic defense to a state of social engagement, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) allows you to experience: better stress regulation, reduced anxiety, improved social interaction, and increased emotional stability.
By bringing you back to a state of safety, SSP enhances your overall well-being, ensuring a better quality of life.

The improvements that transform your daily life
-
Feel better: safer, calmer, more grounded, and more resilient / less irritable, less anxious, and less overwhelmed.
-
Think better: more logically and creatively / less rigidly, disorganized, or distracted.
- Connect better: more openly, genuinely, and fully socially connected / less guarded, distant, or conflicted.
